Third Sunday In Lent Year C, Sunday 24 March 2019
A catechumen is a person who is learning about what it means to be a Christian.
They follow a training course for almost one year beginning in September and finishing at Pentecost. The course is called—The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
This year we have two people following the course. One will be received into the Church and receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion on Holy Saturday at the Easter Vigil on April 20th.
The other person will receive these Sacraments in Portugal on Holy Saturday 2020.
The catechumens meet parishioners every week who accompany them on their faith journey.
If you would like to be involved please let me know.
On the 3rd, 4th and 5th Sunday of Lent the celebrant will address the catechumens and their Godparents at the 8.30am Sunday Mass.
It is called a Scrutiny. It is a prayer to God to strengthen and protect them on their journey of faith.
Please support them in your prayers.
